1. What is AWS?

AWS is a subsidiary of Amazon that provides cloud computing platforms and APIs on a pay-as-you-go basis. It allows businesses to run applications, store data, and scale resources without the need for on-premise hardware.
Key Characteristics:
- On-Demand Services – Pay for what you use.
- Scalability – Easily scale resources up or down.
- Security – Offers compliance, encryption, and IAM (Identity and Access Management).
- Global Availability – Data centers in multiple regions worldwide.

2. AWS Global Infrastructure
AWS operates on a highly redundant and secure infrastructure.
a. AWS Regions
- AWS has geographically distributed regions (data centers) worldwide.
- Each region consists of multiple Availability Zones (AZs) for high availability.
b. Availability Zones (AZs)
- Each AWS region has multiple AZs (usually 2-6).
- Each AZ consists of one or more data centers with redundant power, networking, and connectivity.
